The Welland Public Library (WPL) has many fun and interactive virtual activities to offer during March Break.

Daniella Liebregts-Hamilton, programming and outreach manager at the Welland Public Library, said there are activities for younger and older children.

Liebregts-Hamilton said the library has partnered with the City of Welland to offer a graffiti art boot camp and a beatbox boot camp for ages nine and up.

She said the programs are offered by an organization in Toronto.

Families will also be able to learn many new hula hoop moves. They’ll be back to watch Kiki, Totally Hoop-rageous! on the Library’s Facebook page. This is presented in partnership with the Seaway Mall.

A local author, Danielle Myrie, will share her first children’s book “I Am Beautiful: Beautiful Me” on March 15 from 1 p.m.

Liebregts-Hamilton noted that there are also programs for teenagers. There is a virtual escape room. She said it was a continuation of a previous escape room that had proven popular.

“Whether you’ve done it before, if it’s your first time doing it, you’ll always enjoy it and it’s on our Facebook page,” she said.

There is also a painting activity for 11 to 16 year olds where people can paint together virtually. There are kits available to pick up.

She said the Kiwanis Club of Welland helps support the programming.

“It’s because of their support that we can deliver programs like the Toronto Zoo or the various guests that come. Thanks to their support, we are able to offer free and inexpensive programs.

She said there were lots of different activities available. People should check the full list to make sure they don’t miss one.

Registration for March Break programs begins Tuesday, February 15.

All programs require registration unless otherwise specified.

Liebregts-Hamilton said some programs will fill out or have other limitations.
