How to Start a Business webinars continue on October 20

Registration is now open for the free How to Start a Business online workshops at the Small Business Development Center, 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., Wednesday, October 20, 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday, November 11 and 9: 30 a.m. to 12 p.m., Wednesday November 17.

The content is for people who are wondering if they have what it takes to start their own business, or those who have entrepreneurial ideas but need help or funding to make them happen. Although the program is free, space is limited and pre-registration is required.

“We now advise clients with a variety of business ideas, such as manufacturing, child care, marketing and social media consulting, service companies, food trucks and retail stores,” said David Root, director of the Small Business Development Center. “No matter what you plan to start, the webinar will help you determine if you are ready for what you need to do to move forward.”

The workshop aims to help participants decide whether they are conceptually, physically and financially ready to start a business. Topics for the workshop will include exploring whether a particular business is the right one to start; the risks associated with setting up a business; types of business creation; licensing, legal and accounting matters; how to develop a business plan; create a business calendar; and what commercial resources are available.
