ADULTS who want to learn new skills or explore ways to improve their well-being can take part in a series of free online workshops next month.
Leicester Adult Skills and Learning Service (LASALS) is hosting a week-long wellness festival – called The Great Escape – to give people the chance to take part in workshops and informal online courses designed to help them manage the stress of everyday life.
The festival kicks off on Monday February 8 and then runs for five days, offering a wide range of free daytime and evening sessions.
Sixteen sessions will take place during the week, including drawing, creative writing, yoga, music theory, self-care and computer skills workshops.
There will also be sessions on how to make home learning fun for kids and how to escape the negative effects of fake news and online scams.
All sessions must be booked in advance and will take place online due to current coronavirus restrictions.
Kerry Gray, Leicester City Council’s Adult Learning Services and Skills Manager, said: ‘We want to give people the opportunity to try something new and show the benefits of attending skills workshops. online learning to escape daily challenges. we all face.
“Our normal classroom activities are suspended at the moment, but our tutors have been working hard to ensure people can continue to benefit from a range of lessons from the safety of their homes.
“Learning at any level, at any stage of life, can be very rewarding. It’s a good way to meet people, learn new skills or prepare for a new qualification.
