Expert Online Workshops to Help Football Coaches | Goa News

PANAJI: Football coaches have had little to do on the pitch during the nationwide lockdown. The Reliance Foundation Youth Sports and the Indian Football Coaches Association, however, have made sure that the coaches are not left behind.
RFYS and AIFC have now teamed up and identified promising coaches from across the country to attend a series of online workshops led by experts in the field.
The workshops will start on Monday and end on Wednesday for the East zone. The three-day course will then take place for the South zone from January 25 to 28, the North zone from February 1 to 3 and finally for the West zone from February 8 to 10.
Former Indian player Gautam Ghosh will be one of the experts who will lead the sessions. Ghosh, an A-licensed Asian football confederation, is also the former coach of the Indian junior national team.
He will be assisted by Gumpe Rime who has varied training expertise with an AFC A license and is recognized by the AFC as a level 1 coach trainer.
Ryan Roy Shah, who holds an AFC C license in addition to a UEFA C license, will be the third member of this team of educators who will interact with the coaches.
“Football activities on the pitch have been severely affected due to the Covid-19 pandemic, so an initiative like this is extremely important to ensure that dedicated coaches across the country continue to develop and grow. improve, ”said AIFC Director Dinesh Nair.
Sessions last 90 to 120 minutes, giving participants from football institutes, schools and colleges a detailed overview of various aspects of their role.
“Over the past few months, RFYS and AIFC have been at the forefront of ensuring that despite their inability to train and play, players and coaches continue to develop through their online initiatives.” , said Nair.
The workshops will focus on covering the full range of a coach’s role; ranging from the code of conduct that their services must adhere to, to how training sessions are to be conducted and how best to prepare players for upcoming matches and for match day.
Up to 30 coaches are expected to attend each workshop and will achieve certification upon completion.
They will be told what to look out for while scouting, life skills, how to make sure children in their care are protected and secure as well as the certifications they need to continue advancing their own careers.
