The Pharaohs, who overtook Ivory Coast in the round of 16, will face a highly anticipated quarter-final in the prestigious tournament against the Atlas Lions, who beat Malawi in the same round.
El-Wensh, 26, was unavailable for Egypt after picking up an injury against Guinea-Bissau in the second round of the group stage.
According to a statement from the Egyptian Football Association (EFA), midfielder Hamdi Fathi also appeared in Friday’s session. Moreover, injured goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shennawi has already started his rehabilitation programme.
El-Shennawi, 33, suffered a muscle strain in the shootout win over Ivory Coast and his return date has yet to be set. Fathi, 27, was also substituted in the same match due to a pulled muscle.
Striker Mohamed Sherif was also available for training on Friday despite picking up a minor lip injury against the Ivorians.
Egypt, a record seven-time African champions, are in the hunt for their first Africa Cup of Nations title since 2010.
