Denbighshire webinars for businesses to join climate action


A COUNCIL is organizing free online events as part of the COP26 Climate Change Conference.

COP26 is the annual United Nations climate change conference that is hosted by the UK, along with Italy, in Glasgow from October 31 to November 12.

During this time, Denbighshire County Council will highlight climate change through its social media and organize online events.

This includes an online event for businesses, Business Breakfast – Denbighshire for Climate, on November 9, which will provide information on the support available to help businesses contribute to the climate change agenda, and the Becoming a Carbon Community webinar. Zero in Denbighshire on November 1, including a speaker from the Center for Alternative Technology and a climate and ecological change resource pack will be created for schools to use during the fortnight.

In 2019, Council declared a climate and ecological emergency that included a commitment to make the authority zero carbon by 2030 and improve biodiversity across the county.

The Council’s strategy on climate and ecological change was adopted in 2021.

Cllr Brian Jones, Cabinet Member for Transport, Waste and Environment, said: “We are supporting COP26 by raising awareness about climate change at the conference so that members of the public and business can get all the information they need. they need to contribute.

“It includes events for the public and businesses and we have produced resources for schools.

“The council has a number of projects to help reduce carbon emissions and increase biodiversity here in Denbighshire as part of our climate change and ecological strategy.

“These include improving the infrastructure for electric vehicles and creating woodland meadows and wildflowers in the county.

“The council has already reduced carbon emissions from our buildings and fleet and now only uses renewable electricity in our buildings after switching to a renewable energy supplier only for schools, recreation centers , libraries, council offices and repositories. ”
