Blue Zones Project Launches Monthly Wellness Webinars – Welcome to the City of Fort Worth

North Texas Healthy Communities, the nonprofit arm of Texas Health implementing the Blue Zones project in Fort Worth, is partnering with nationally recognized stress coach and wellness educator Nicole Porter to present a free, year-long webinar series designed to engage, empower and equip busy professionals with tools for better mindset and overall health.

The first in the series will be presented from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday June 15, and recorded to accommodate work/personal life schedules. Future webinars will be offered every third Wednesday of the month through November. To enhance webinar discussions, attendees may submit questions to Porter in advance via a link provided with registration confirmation.

Summer presentations:

Let’s talk about stress, June 15, noon to 1 p.m. For many, a demanding job, financial difficulties or a global pandemic immediately come to mind as sources of stress. However, today’s professionals also add stress to their bodies and minds in other ways. In this webinar, Porter redefines the current definition of stress and reveals the top 10 daily habits that can be holding you back from optimal health, happiness, and productivity — at work and at home. Good food. Good Mood, July 20, 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Your brain is made up of billions of cells, all of which must be fueled with adequate nutrition for your body to function optimally. In this evidence-based presentation, Porter explains how dehydration, dieting, processed sugar, caffeine, artificial ingredients and other nutritional stressors play a key role in the growing mental health challenge of today. You’ll walk away understanding how the food you eat affects your brain and your physical and mental well-being, and which foods to eat (or not) to better manage your mood and state of mind. The Mind Games of Exercise, August 17, 12-1 p.m. Too little exercise can impair your immune system. Too much can stress your body, throw hormones out of balance, and negatively impact cognitive health.
