The Alliance For Commercial Enterprises in Space (ACES http://www.alliancespace.net/), the Silicon Valley Space
Club (SVSC) and NASA Ames request your presence at a Sim-Space Working Group meeting. The meeting will
be held March 13-15, 2006 at the NASA Training and Conference Center (Building 3) at the NASA Research Park
at Moffett Field in Mountain View, California. The goal of this working group will be to promote the development
of virtual reality space simulation capabilities for education and entertainment, as well as to provide support for real
space mission planning by NASA and the DoD.
Our goal is to open the space high frontier for a new generation by promoting the development of an internet based
reality application to provide a fun, realistic, multi-media, simulation of human and robotic space exploration,
development and commercialization. We envision students building their own space program, individually and in
groups. This will help make early learning in science and technology fun and exciting and will enhance science,
technology, engineering and math (STEM) education.
Also, the tools and programs developed will aid real space exploration and mission planning by providing new
simulation tools, and a full exploration of various vehicle options and mission architectures to help identify the
most attractive options for the government and commercial space to meet their goals.
The planning from this workshop is anticipated to impact education events currently being organized for the AIAA
Space 2006 conference, which will be held September 19-21st in San Jose, California. More information on this
conference can be found at http://www.aiaa.org/.
A preliminary agenda for this working group meeting will start at 9 am on Monday March 13 and end at noon on
Wednesday March 15 is attached.
A registration fee of $150.00 will be collected to pay for food and refreshments. $175.00 after March 5th.
Sincerely,
Phil Smith
